Bud Collins Biography
Bud Collins (1929-2016) was an American journalist and television sportscaster best known for his tennis commentary. Born on June 17, 1929, in Lima, Ohio, Collins grew up in Berea and graduated from Berea High School in 1947. He attended Baldwin-Wallace College, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, and later attended graduate school at Boston University. Collins served in the U.S. Army before becoming a tennis coach at Brandeis University from 1959 to 1963. Throughout his career, Collins made significant contributions to tennis journalism and commentated on numerous tennis events. He was married to photographer Anita Ruthling Klaussen.
