Buddy Hackett Biography
Buddy Hackett (born Leonard Hacker; August 31, 1924 – June 30, 2003) was an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his roles in films such as The Music Man (1962), It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963), The Love Bug (1968), and as the voice of Scuttle in The Little Mermaid (1989). Hackett grew up in Brooklyn, New York, in a Jewish family. He attended New Utrecht High School, where he was involved in varsity football and the drama club. Hackett's distinctive slurred speech and facial expression were the result of Bell's palsy, which he had as a child. Before becoming an actor, Hackett worked as a tummler, entertaining guests.
