    Byron Pitts is an American journalist and author, known for his work as a co-anchor on ABC News' Nightline. He was born on October 21, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland. Pitts grew up in a working-class neighborhood, raised by a single mother. Overcoming a debilitating stutter, he became a journalist and graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in journalism and speech communication. Pitts started his career as an intern at WTVD and went on to work as a correspondent for CBS' 60 Minutes and chief national correspondent for The CBS Evening News. He joined ABC News in 2013 and has since been a prominent figure in television news.
