Camille Anna Paglia (born April 2, 1947) is an American academic and social critic, known for her self-identification as a feminist. She has been a professor at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia since 1984. Paglia gained recognition for her book Sexual Personae: Art and Decadence from Nefertiti to Emily Dickinson (1990) and has written several other books. In her work, she critiques various aspects of modern culture, including contemporary American feminism and post-structuralism. Paglia is also a commentator on American visual art, music, and film history. Born in Endicott, New York to Italian immigrant parents, she has a strong connection to her Italian heritage.
