Carl Dean Wilson (December 21, 1946 – February 6, 1998) was an American musician and actor. He was a co-founder of the Beach Boys and served as their lead guitarist. Born as the youngest sibling of bandmates Brian and Dennis Wilson, Carl became the de facto leader of the group during the early to mid-1970s. Influenced by Chuck Berry and the Ventures, he initially played lead guitar and provided backing vocals, but later took on lead vocals for several of their hits.
