Carlton Cuse is a screenwriter, showrunner, producer, and director, born on March 22, 1959. He gained recognition for his work on the American television series Lost, which propelled him onto Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010. Cuse is known for his innovative cross-genre storytelling and groundbreaking contributions to interactive media. He has also been a mentor to many aspiring screenwriters who have gone on to become successful showrunners. Born in Mexico City, Mexico, to American parents, Cuse's father worked for his grandfather's machine-tool manufacturing business. After moving to Boston, Massachusetts, the family eventually settled in Tustin, California, where Cuse attended El Dorado Private School. Cuse is of Latvian and Baltic German heritage and was raised as a Roman Catholic.
