Carol Barbee

Carol Denise Barbee (born May 22, 1959) is an Emmy-winning American television writer, actress, and producer. She was born in Concord, North Carolina and graduated from Central Cabarrus High School. Barbee obtained a BA in Speech, Communications, and Theater Arts from Wake Forest University and later received her MFA in Acting from UCLA. She comes from a musical background, with her mother being a singer in a gospel quartet. Barbee has appeared in TV shows like L.A. Law, JAG, Northern Exposure, and Ellen, as well as movies including Die Hard 2 and Out to Sea. She gained recognition as a writer for NBC's Providence and served as executive producer and head writer for Judging Amy.
