Chad Gaylord Smith (born October 25, 1961) is an American musician known for his role as the drummer of the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers since 1988. He is also a member of the hard rock supergroup Chickenfoot and the instrumental group Chad Smith's Bombastic Meatbats. Smith has collaborated with various artists including Glenn Hughes, Johnny Cash, John Fogerty, and Lana Del Rey. In addition to his music career, he released a children's album called Rhythm Train in 2010. Smith's work on the Red Hot Chili Peppers' albums has earned the band several Grammy Awards and induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
