Chard Hayward Biography
Chard Hayward, born Roy Hayward in 1949, is a Welsh-born Australian-American television actor, director, and producer. He is best known for his portrayal of the character Dudley Butterfield, a camp barman, in the long-running 1970s television soap opera Number 96. Before his iconic role, Hayward appeared in earlier episodes as a hippie in a small role. In the early 90s, he relocated to the United States. Hayward initially pursued a military career but later decided to switch paths. He briefly studied at the National Institute of Dramatic Art before joining the Pageant Theatre Company, where he directed and produced plays. His performances as Dudley Butterfield in Number 96 have left a lasting impression on audiences.
