Charles Dierkop Biography
Charles Richard Dierkop (born September 11, 1936) is an American character actor known for his supporting roles in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) and The Sting (1973). He gained further recognition for his appearance in the television series Police Woman (1974-1978). Dierkop was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and attended Aquinas High School. After dropping out of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in Korea. Upon his return, he studied at the American Foundation of Dramatic Arts in Philadelphia. Dierkop is a lifetime member of the Actors Studio and began his acting career in television's Naked City. He has also worked on two George Roy Hill films, cementing his place in the industry.
