Charles Kimbrough Biography
Charles Mayberry Kimbrough (May 23, 1936 – January 11, 2023) was an American actor best known for his role as the straight-faced anchorman Jim Dial on the television show Murphy Brown. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Kimbrough had extensive stage experience, studying theater and drama at Indiana University Bloomington and earning a Masters of Fine Arts degree at Yale University's School of Drama. In addition to his notable role on Murphy Brown, Kimbrough was also nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Stephen Sondheim's Company. He had a long and successful career in both theater and television.
