Richard Anthony 'Cheech' Marin, born on July 13, 1946, is a Mexican American comedian, actor, musician, and activist. He rose to fame as part of the comedy duo Cheech & Chong in the 1970s and early 1980s, alongside Tommy Chong. Marin also played the role of Insp. Joe Dominguez, Don Johnson's partner, on the TV show Nash Bridges. He has lent his voice to various characters in Disney films, including Oliver & Company, The Lion King, the Cars series, Coco, and Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Marin is known for his characters' strong Chicano accents, despite not being fluent in Spanish. He was born in South Los Angeles, California, to Mexican parents Elsa and Oscar Marin.
