Cherie Johnson

Cherie Johnson (born November 21, 1975) is an American actress, writer, film producer, and author. She gained recognition for her roles in popular TV shows such as Punky Brewster, where she played Punky's best friend Cherie, and Family Matters, where she portrayed Laura Winslow's best friend Maxine Johnson for eight seasons from 1990 to 1998. Johnson has also made a name for herself as a writer and film producer, having produced eight films and authored several books, including Around The World Twice and Stupid Guys Diary. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Johnson is of mixed African-American and Puerto Rican heritage and comes from a family with a strong background in the entertainment industry, including her uncle David W. Duclon, a renowned screenwriter and TV producer.
