Cornelius Crane "Chevy" Chase (born October 8, 1943) is an American comedian, actor, and writer. He gained prominence as a breakout cast member of the first season of Saturday Night Live (1975–1976), where his recurring Weekend Update segment became a fixture. Chase received two Primetime Emmy Awards and four nominations for his work on the show as a performer and writer. Following his departure from SNL, he became a leading man in successful comedy films during the 1980s. Notable roles include Foul Play (1978), Caddyshack (1980), National Lampoon's Vacation series, Fletch (1985), Seems Like Old Times (1980), Spies Like Us (1985), Three Amigos! (1986), and Funny Farm (1988).
