Chris Funk is an American musician and multi-instrumentalist born on November 28, 1971. He is best known as a member of the indie rock band The Decemberists, based in Portland, Oregon. Funk is skilled in playing various instruments including guitar, pedal steel, piano, violin, dobro, hurdy-gurdy, mandolin, saxophone, and the theremin. He attended Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and hails from Valparaiso, Indiana. Funk joined The Decemberists after meeting Colin Meloy at a solo show and has been with the band since its formation. He has contributed to every Decemberists record and is known for his guitar, pedal steel, and mandolin tracks.
