Christopher Scott Kyle (April 8, 1974 – February 2, 2013) was a United States Navy SEAL sniper. He served four tours in the Iraq War and was awarded the Silver Star, three Bronze Star Medals with "V" devices for valor, and a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with "V" device, among other awards. Kyle recorded 160 confirmed kills during his service. He authored the bestselling autobiography 'American Sniper' in 2012, which was later adapted into a film directed by Clint Eastwood. Kyle was tragically murdered in 2013 by Eddie Ray Routh, a former Marine, at a shooting range in Texas.
