Christine Hakim, born on December 25, 1956, is an Indonesian actress, film producer, and activist. Hailing from a mixed-race background in Jambi, she grew up in Yogyakarta with dreams of becoming an architect or psychologist. However, her path changed after being discovered by Teguh Karya for the film Cinta Pertama in 1973, which earned her a Citra Award for Best Actress and ignited her passion for acting. Throughout her career, she has appeared in numerous films, including notable works like Badai Pasti Berlalu (1977) and Tjoet Nja' Dhien (1988). In addition to her acting achievements, Hakim has won six Citra Awards, received a lifetime achievement award from the Cinemanila International Film Festival, and served as a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2010, she had a minor role in the Hollywood movie Eat Pray Love. Since 1998, Hakim has also ventured into producing and documentary filmmaking, showcasing her versatility and commitment to the industry.
