Christopher Gaze Biography
Christopher Gaze is an English actor, host, artist, theatre, and opera director residing in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Born in Guildford, Surrey, England on May 12, 1952, Gaze trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School before coming to Canada in 1975. He spent three seasons at the Shaw Festival before moving to Vancouver in 1983. In 1990, Gaze founded Bard on the Beach, a theatre festival that has achieved attendance exceeding 100,000. Alongside his work at Bard, Gaze's voice can be heard in cartoon series, commercials, and on the radio. He also hosts the Vancouver Symphony's Tea and Trumpets series and their annual Christmas concerts. Gaze has received numerous honors, including induction into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame, Canada's Meritorious Service Medal, honorary doctorates from UBC and SFU, the BC Community Achievement Award, the Gold Medallion from the Children's Theatre Foundation of America, and a Jessie Award for Best Supporting Actor.
