Christopher Hitchens

Christopher Hitchens (1949-2011) was a British author and journalist known for his influential atheist views. He authored 18 books on faith, culture, politics, and literature and was educated at Oxford University. In the 1980s, he moved to the United States and wrote for The Nation and Vanity Fair. Hitchens gained prominence as a columnist and speaker, being one of the leading figures of the New Atheism movement. His notable contribution to philosophy and law was his epistemological razor, which states that 'what can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence.' Hitchens's political views evolved over time, starting as a democratic socialist and later becoming critical of certain aspects of American foreign policy.
