Chuck Barris was an American game show creator, producer, and host, born on June 3, 1929, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was known for hosting The Gong Show and creating The Dating Game and The Newlywed Game. Besides his work in television, Barris was also a songwriter, with his most famous composition being 'Palisades Park'. He wrote an autobiography titled Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, which was later turned into a film directed by George Clooney. Barris grew up in Lower Merion Township and attended Lower Merion High School. He graduated from Drexel University in 1953, where he had worked as a columnist for the student newspaper. Barris began his television career as a page at NBC in New York City.
