With a career spanning several decades, Higgins has made a name for herself with notable film appearances such as Hellraiser (1987), Hellbound: Hellraiser II (1988), Small Faces (1996), and The Golden Compass (2007). She has received critical acclaim for her work in the theatre, earning six Olivier Award nominations and winning three times, including for her roles in Sweet Bird of Youth (1995), Vincent in Brixton (2003), and Hecuba (2005). Higgins has also made an impact on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for her performance in Vincent in Brixton (2003) and later returning in the 2014 revival of A Delicate Balance.
