Clarence Thomas Biography
Clarence Thomas (born June 23, 1948) is an American lawyer and jurist who currently serves as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Nominated by President George H. W. Bush in 1991, he succeeded Thurgood Marshall. Thomas is the second African American to serve on the Supreme Court and has been its longest-serving member since 2018. He is also the Court's oldest member since 2022. Born in Pin Point, Georgia, Thomas was raised in a poor Gullah community near Savannah by his grandfather after his father left. Initially aiming to become a Catholic priest, he later pursued a legal career, attending the College of the Holy Cross and Yale Law School.
