Clive Swift Biography
Clive Walter Swift (9 February 1936 – 1 February 2019) was an English actor and songwriter. He was best known for his role as Richard Bucket in the BBC sitcom Keeping Up Appearances. Swift was born in Liverpool, England, on February 9, 1936, to Abram Sampson Swift and Lily Rebecca. He had a brother named David who was also an actor. Swift received a classical education at Clifton College and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, where he studied English literature. He had a successful career in both stage and screen, including performances with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In addition to his acting, Swift was also a teacher at LAMDA and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
