Colby Lewis Biography
Colby Preston Lewis, popularly known as 'Cobra', is a former professional baseball pitcher. Born on August 2, 1979, Lewis played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers, Oakland Athletics, and Texas Rangers, and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp. He was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the first round (sandwich pick) of the 1999 MLB Draft. Lewis made his major league debut and later played for the Hiroshima Toyo Carp from 2008 to 2009, winning two awards for most strikeouts. Upon his return to the Rangers, he played a key role in the team's back-to-back American League pennants in 2010 and 2011. Lewis is a graduate of North High School in Bakersfield, California, and attended Bakersfield College, where he achieved first team Western State Conference honors.
