She gained fame for her creation and portrayal of the Internet character Miranda Sings, a talentless and eccentric persona who satirizes people trying to break into show business. Ballinger's Miranda Sings videos on YouTube and her one-woman comedy act have garnered a large following, and she has performed her act in theaters worldwide. She also created and starred in the Netflix original series 'Haters Back Off' (2016–2017). In addition to her Miranda Sings content, Ballinger has personal YouTube channels where she shares comedy and lifestyle videos. With a combined total of over 5 billion views, her channels have a substantial following.
