Conrad Janis Biography
Conrad Janis (February 11, 1928 – March 1, 2022) was an American jazz trombonist and actor known for his roles in film and television. Active during the Golden Age Era in the 1950s and 1960s, Janis continued acting until 2012. He played the character Frederick, Mindy McConnell's father, in 53 episodes of the popular sitcom Mork & Mindy. Throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, he made numerous guest appearances in notable television shows including Maude, The Golden Girls, and Frasier. Born in Manhattan, Janis began his acting career at the age of 13 and also did radio voice work. He gained recognition for his role in the play Dark of the Moon, leading to opportunities in Hollywood.
