Towers made her Broadway debut in the musical Anya in 1965 and went on to star in four other Broadway productions throughout the 1970s. She received two Emmy Award nominations for her work. In the 1980s, Towers appeared as Clarissa McCandless on the daytime drama Capitol and later portrayed Helena Cassadine on General Hospital.
