Courtney Bernard Vance is an American actor known for his work in film, television, and stage. Born on March 12, 1960, Vance began his acting career on stage before transitioning to the screen. He received critical acclaim and a Tony Award nomination for his role in the original production of August Wilson's Fences in 1985. Vance also appeared in Broadway productions such as Six Degrees of Separation and Lucky Guy, for which he won a Tony Award. He has starred in notable films like Hamburger Hill, The Hunt for Red October, and Terminator Genisys. Vance's television credits include portraying Assistant District Attorney Ron Carver in Law & Order: Criminal Intent from 2001 to 2006.
