Curt Lowens Biography
Curt Lowens (17 November 1925 – 8 May 2017) was a German actor known for his work in feature films and television. He was also a Holocaust survivor and a rescuer who saved approximately 150 Jewish children during the Holocaust. Born as Curt Löwenstein in Allenstein, East Prussia (now Olsztyn, Poland), Lowens' family moved to Berlin to seek protection from the city's large Jewish community. After experiencing the violence of Kristallnacht in 1938, his school was closed down. In 1939, he celebrated his bar mitzvah in a school auditorium along with 34 other youths. Throughout his career, Lowens made notable appearances in various movies and TV shows.
