Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris-Dupart on April 14, 1974, is an American rapper from Chicago, Illinois. She started her career in 1992 when she signed with So So Def Records. Her debut album, Funkdafied, released in 1994, sold over one million copies, making her the first-ever female solo rap act to achieve platinum certification. Da Brat had two top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the early years of her career, including 'Funkdafied' in 1994 and 'Not Tonight' in 1997, a collaboration with Lil' Kim, Lisa Lopes, Missy Elliott, and Angie Martinez. She has also collaborated with Jermaine Dupri on 'I Think They Like Me' and has appeared on several movies and TV shows.
