Daddy Yankee

Daddy Yankee, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez on February 3, 1977, is a retired Puerto Rican rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. Known as the 'King of Reggaeton', he has been a major influence on other Hispanic urban performers. Ayala grew up in the Villa Kennedy Housing Projects neighborhood in Río Piedras. Originally aspiring to be a professional baseball player, his dreams were cut short when he was hit by a stray bullet from an AK-47 rifle. This incident led him to focus solely on his music career. In 2004, Daddy Yankee gained international fame with his hit single 'Gasolina', which introduced reggaeton to a global audience.
