Damien Echols Biography
Damien Wayne Echols, born Michael Wayne Hutchison on December 11, 1974, is an American writer and former member of the West Memphis Three, a group of teenagers who were convicted of a triple murder. After being released from death row in 2011 under an Alford plea, Echols turned to writing and authored several autobiographies and spiritual books. He has gained recognition for his spiritual works and his involvement in the West Memphis Three case, and has been featured in multiple books, documentaries, and podcasts. Echols changed his name at the age of 13 to Damien Wayne Echols, taking his stepfather's last name. He currently resides in the United States.
