Daniel Edward Aykroyd (born July 1, 1952) is a Canadian actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer, and musician. He rose to fame as a writer and original cast member of the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, appearing from 1975 to 1979. Aykroyd received five Primetime Emmy Award nominations for his work on the show, winning in 1977 for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. He is best known for his roles in the Ghostbusters films, playing Dr. Raymond Stantz. Aykroyd has also appeared in comedic films such as Trading Places, Spies Like Us, and Coneheads.
