Dan Moran
Daniel James Moran (May 31, 1888 – April 3, 1948) was an American oilman and the first President of Conoco oil company. He served as a senior officer with Texaco, Marland Oil, and Continental Oil. After J.P. Morgan took control of Marland Oil Company in 1928, Moran assumed the role of president and successfully merged Continental Oil with Marland Oil, creating Conoco. Throughout his tenure from 1928 to 1947, Moran skillfully guided Conoco through the challenges of the Great Depression and World War II. Under his leadership, Conoco played a pioneering role in offshore drilling, continental pipelines, petrochemicals, and aviation fuel. Dan Moran Park in Ponca City, Oklahoma, and a medallion at the Conoco Oil Pioneers of Oklahoma Plaza at the University of Oklahoma honor Moran's contributions to the industry.
