Dana Elcar Biography
Dana Elcar (October 10, 1927 – June 6, 2005) was an American character actor known for his work in television and film. He appeared in approximately 40 films and is best remembered for his roles in the 1960s TV series Dark Shadows as Sheriff George Patterson and the 1980s and 1990s TV series MacGyver as Peter Thornton, MacGyver's immediate supervisor at the Phoenix Foundation. Elcar was born in Ferndale, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan. After serving in the United States Navy, he pursued a career in acting and studied under Sanford Meisner. Elcar's talent and training made him a respected figure in the industry.
