Dana Plato

Dana Michelle Plato (née Strain; November 7, 1964 – May 8, 1999) was an American actress best known for her role as Kimberly Drummond on the NBC/ABC sitcom Diff'rent Strokes (1978–1986). Born to a teen mother and adopted as an infant, Plato grew up in the San Fernando Valley. Prior to acting, she was an accomplished figure skater. Plato began her acting career with commercial appearances and made her television debut on The Six Million Dollar Man (1975) at the age of 10. She went on to appear in horror films such as Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977) and Return to Boggy Creek (1977). Plato gained widespread recognition and acclaim for her role in the Academy Award-winning film California Suite (1978), and her portrayal of Kimberly Drummond on Diff'rent Strokes earned her nominations for a Young Artist Award and a Golden Globe Award.
