Daniel Gillies

Daniel Gillies is a New Zealand and Canadian actor, film producer, director, and screenwriter. He is best known for his role as Elijah Mikaelson in the television series The Vampire Diaries and its spin-off, The Originals. Gillies also portrayed Dr. Joel Goran in the Canadian medical-themed show Saving Hope. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Gillies moved to New Zealand at a young age and later relocated to Sydney, Australia. He wrote and directed the 2012 film Broken Kingdom. Gillies comes from a family with a strong medical background but pursued acting due to his passion and talent in the field.
