Daniel J. Travanti Biography
Daniel J. Travanti (born March 7, 1940) is an American actor known for his portrayal of police captain Frank Furillo in the TV series Hill Street Blues (1981–1987). Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Travanti is the son of Italian immigrants John and Elvira Travanti. He attended Mary D. Bradford High School where he excelled as a football player. Despite receiving athletic scholarship offers, he chose to pursue acting. Travanti graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Wisconsin–Madison with the General Motors Scholarship. He achieved critical acclaim for his role in Hill Street Blues, winning a Golden Globe Award and two Primetime Emmy Awards. Travanti has appeared in numerous other TV shows and movies throughout his career.
