Danny Lee Wynter (born May 25, 1982) is a British actor, playwright, and activist. He gained recognition for his leading roles in Stephen Poliakoff's BBC films Joe's Palace and Capturing Mary. Wynter also appeared in Dominic Cooke’s 2021 National Theatre revival of The Normal Heart, earning him a nomination for an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor. With a background in stage work, Wynter began his professional training while working as an usher at the Royal Court Theatre. He is also a writer, having contributed to publications like The Stage Newspaper, The Huffington Post, The Guardian, and The Evening Standard. Wynter's debut play, Black Superhero, premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in March 2023. Born and raised in Barking, East London, Wynter grew up in Essex within a single-parent family. His mother, of Romany Gypsy and Italian descent, worked as a train attendant, while his father was a local businessman.
