Daphne Maxwell Reid, born Daphne Etta Reid on July 13, 1948, is an American actress, comedian, designer, and former model. She gained recognition for her portrayal of the second Vivian Banks on the popular NBC sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air from 1993 to 1996. Born in New York City, Reid graduated from The Bronx High School of Science and later attended Northwestern University on a scholarship. She became the first African-American woman to be named homecoming queen at Northwestern. Reid started her modeling career while at university and was signed with the Eileen Ford modeling agency. Additionally, she was the first black woman to grace the cover of Glamour magazine. Throughout her career, Reid has made appearances in various television programs, but her most notable role remains her portrayal of Vivian Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
