David Alford, born Ben David Alford on December 20, 1964, is an American actor, playwright, and author. He is best known for his portrayal of Bucky Dawes on the television series Nashville. Alford was born and raised in Adams, Tennessee, on his family's farm. He attended Jo Byrns High School and later enrolled in Martin Methodist College before transferring to Austin Peay State University, where he studied theatre. After being accepted into the Juilliard School drama program, Alford spent a few years in New York before returning to Tennessee and founding Mockingbird Theatre in Nashville.
