David Allan Coe
David Allan Coe (born September 6, 1939) is an American singer and songwriter known for his contributions to the 1970s outlaw country scene. After spending much of his early life in reform schools and prisons, Coe took up music and gained recognition by busking in Nashville. Initially playing in the blues style, he later transitioned to country music and produced several notable hits, including 'You Never Even Called Me by My Name', 'Longhaired Redneck', 'The Ride', 'Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile', and 'She Used to Love Me a Lot'. Coe's rebellious attitude and unconventional lifestyle set him apart from other country performers, earning him a devoted fan base but also hindering mainstream success.
