David Archuleta

David James Archuleta is an American pop singer, born on December 28, 1990. At the age of ten, he achieved recognition by winning the children's division of the Utah Talent Competition, which led to several television singing appearances. At twelve, he became the Junior Vocal Champion on the second season of Star Search. In 2008, he gained further prominence as the runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol. Archuleta's debut album, self-titled 'David Archuleta', was released in 2008 and reached number two on the Billboard 200 chart. To date, it has sold over 750,000 copies in the United States and over 900,000 worldwide. He has released several other albums, including 'The Other Side of Down' in 2010. In 2012, Archuleta took a two-year hiatus to serve as a missionary in Chile for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
