David Brenner Biography
David Norris Brenner (February 4, 1936 – March 15, 2014) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and author. Born to Jewish parents in Philadelphia, Brenner's father was a vaudeville comedian who gave up his career for religious reasons. After serving in the U.S. Army, Brenner pursued a career in comedy, becoming a pioneer of observational comedy. He gained popularity as the most frequent guest on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson in the 1970s and 1980s. Brenner also appeared in several movies and television shows throughout his career. Known as the 'king of hip, observational comedy,' Brenner's humor resonated with audiences worldwide. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 78.
