David Kwame Dontoh, born in 1964, is a veteran Ghanaian actor and television personality. Affectionately known as Uncle David, Ghanaman, and Kofi Abranteɛ (Kofi Gentleman), Dontoh has made a significant impact on the local and international film industry. He has appeared in numerous films, dramas, and stage productions, showcasing his talent and versatility as an actor. Dontoh played a crucial role in the development of television and drama in Ghana during the golden age of theatre in the 80s and 90s. His acting journey began in 1980 when he responded to a newspaper advert by the National Film and Television Institute (NAFTI) for aspiring actors. Dontoh's first NAFTI film, titled "The Way To Shame," was a seven-minute production directed by Alex Bannerman. Despite being a last-minute replacement, Dontoh impressed the film's assessment panel.
