    David E. Sanger (born July 5, 1960) is an American journalist and author. He is currently the chief Washington correspondent for The New York Times. Sanger has been writing for the Times for 30 years, focusing on topics such as foreign policy, globalization, nuclear proliferation, and the presidency. He has been a member of three Pulitzer Prize-winning teams and has received numerous honors for his coverage of national security and foreign policy. Sanger is also the author of three books, including The Perfect Weapon: War, Sabotage, and Fear in the Cyber Age. He is the son of Joan S. and Kenneth E. Sanger, and his paternal grandfather, Elliott Sanger, was a co-founder of WQXR-FM, the radio station of The New York Times.
