David James Elliott, born David William Smith on September 21, 1960, is a Canadian actor. He is best known for his role as Harmon Rabb Jr. in the series JAG, which he played from 1995 to 2005. Elliott was born in Milton, Ontario, Canada, to Patricia and Arnold Smith. He attended Ryerson University in Toronto and graduated in 1982. Prior to his acting career, Elliott was part of a band and had dreams of becoming a rock star. However, he returned to finish high school and eventually pursued acting. Elliott joined the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Ontario before moving to Los Angeles and adopting the stage name David James Elliott.
