David Mamet Biography
David Alan Mamet (born November 30, 1947) is an American playwright, filmmaker, and author. He gained critical acclaim for his off-Broadway plays in the 1970s including The Duck Variations, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, and American Buffalo. Mamet won a Pulitzer Prize for his play Glengarry Glen Ross (1984) and received Tony nominations for Glengarry Glen Ross and Speed-the-Plow (1988). As a filmmaker, he wrote and directed notable feature films such as House of Games (1987), The Spanish Prisoner (1997), and Heist (2001). Mamet also worked as a screenwriter on films like The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981), The Verdict (1982), and Wag the Dog (1997).
