David Paisley (born February 2, 1979) is a Scottish actor and LGBTQIA+ rights campaigner. He is known for his roles as midwife Ben Saunders in Holby City, Ryan Taylor in Tinsel Town, and Rory Murdoch in River City. Paisley's portrayal of LGBTQIA+ characters has been both notable and controversial. He was voted 'Britain's sexiest man' by readers of Gay Times magazine in 2003. Paisley grew up in Glen Village near Falkirk and is the son of author Janet Paisley. He attended the University of Glasgow to study physics, during which time he began acting in a community workshop. Paisley later studied Optometry at Glasgow Caledonian University. He came out as gay at age 18 and has been an active campaigner for LGBTQIA+ rights.
