    David Perlman Biography
    David Perlman (December 30, 1918 – June 19, 2020) was an American science journalist based in San Francisco, California. He was known for his work as the science editor for the San Francisco Chronicle. Perlman was born in Baltimore, Maryland and raised on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. He graduated from Columbia College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Starting his career as a reporter in 1940 at the San Francisco Chronicle, Perlman began covering science in 1957. He retired in August 2017 at the age of 98 and became the Chronicle's science editor emeritus. Perlman advocated for science coverage in the media and expressed concern about cuts to such coverage.
